What is the payback period for this type of service?

Leaky ducts decrease the efficiency of your HVAC equipment by up to 20%. We typically see that our seal customers are getting a 30-40% savings on their energy bills after sealing their ductwork. It is hard to determine the exact month for your home's payback because each home has different energy usage. However, you should expect a 1.5-2.5 year payback.

If the leakage is inside of my home, isn't the air still heating my home?

Ductwork is designed to deliver air to specific spots through its "forced air" design. Leakage may be in your walls, floor, basement, crawl space and attic. Although the idea that a leaky air duct system will still heat the home, forced air systems are designed to deliver conditioned air through the register and not heat through the radiant heat process. Aeroseal^® will seal holes up to 5/8" during the normal range of productivity and deliver air to where it needs to go.

What type of home sees the biggest benefit from Aeroseal^®?

Even the smallest of homes can have leakage of 800 cubic feet per minute (CFM), which is the equivalent of a 160 square inch hole. Each small hole in your air ducts add up to one large hole, leaking air in places it was not supposed to go. Although homes on a crawl space or ones that have ductwork running through an attic space are a MUST, every home is a great candidate for Aeroseal^®. If your home is experiencing odors and other indoor air quality issues, it may be due to your leaky ducts.

Is there a guarantee for the sealing?

Yes absolutely. We offer a 10 year guarantee through Aeroseal^®. This guarantees that the glue will stay intact through testing. Aeroseal^® has stated that it can last 40+ years.

How long will it take to seal my homes air ducts?

Each home is different, but we estimate our sealing process may take 4-6 hours for a single furnace home.

Will my furnace or air conditioning need to be off during the sealing process?

During the sealing process the Amistee team needs to pressurize the air duct system. In order to do this the furnace must be turned off. During the winter months, a home's indoor temperature typically only drops 10 degrees.

Will your sealing process fix a cold upstairs bedroom in my home?

There are a lot of reasons that a room may be hot or cold. One of the main reasons is insufficient heat delivered to the room caused by leakage. Aeroseal ® will seal the ductwork allowing the proper amount of air to get to the room without having to add equipment or change the heating and cooling system. To make a long answer short, yes. Aeroseal^® has been proven to help solve this issue.

How can I tell if my duct work is leaking?

There are several sign you can look for to determine if your home is leaking air. A drafty home is the most obvious sign you have air leaks. An increase in monthly utility bills, or noticing it costs more to heat or cool your house in comparison to similar homes are also signs your duct work could be leaking. Two common signs of ductwork leaking is excesive dust throughout the house, as well as hot and cold rooms.
